"Defensive Tactics & Control Mechanics"

Seemless integration into your current use of force training.

A.C.W.A. Tactical is the Law Enforcement/Security specific branch of the A.C.W.A. and provides materials specifically geared to the needs of these groups. The information contained in this site is provided to give a general overview only (for security purposes) so please contact us for additional details and specifics on either content or to sign up for our next training event. With that said, the following should give you a feel though as to how our goals and your goals are in complete alignment.

The faster and more efficiently you are able to gain control of a situation, the less injury, and potential liability issues there will be. The problem is if your only response to a situation is the proverbial "hammer" then all situations look like the proverbial "nail". In other words you need to have the right tools to deal with the situation, not just a single tool (and force it to work for everything). This is the problem that most martial arts offer; it's just not the right tool for the job.

Tools, Tactics & Targets
Contrary to popular belief, general martial arts are not meant for combat, control or even real world personal defense. The fact is that most have degraded into sporting activities and train you to compete and score points, which is a far cry from your actual needs. Arts are bound by rules which work fine 1 on 1, in a ring, or in a controlled environment, but have little bearing on dealing with a suspect and his two buddies in a dark parking lot who are not eager to go to jail. Stop trying to get a submission hold that turns you into a human pretzel (you simply cannot respond to additional threats that way). Needless to say, it's time to reconsider your tactics.

Our materials are derived from Combatives, NOT martial arts. There is a big difference (and calling grappling "Combatives" does not make it so). There is a vast difference in mindset and tactics here. For this reason we prefer to teach tools, tactics and targets in this curriculum, not memorized patterns. This methodology allows us to teach how each "tool" functions, where it can be applied "target" and when the opportunity for it exists "tactics". This process instills a sense of realism and develops dynamic problem solving skills.

A.C.W.A. Tactical - Defensive Tactics 1

The DT-1 (Defensive Tactics 1) course focuses on control and threat neutralization through the application of both empty hand and armed defensive tactics. Applications of these concepts are taught in strategies for single and multiple attacker situations. Concepts are trained in different environments such as interior, exterior, illuminated and low-light/no-light situations. All materials, training tools, etc. will be provided as part of this event.
